From the Washington Post today: “Since 2000, India has thwarted the spread of tuberculosis with a program known as Directly Observed Treatment Short Course, but drug-resistant strains are threatening to reverse the downtrend. The Indian government has said it will spend more money on treatment and expand a nationwide network of labs capable of detecting drug-resistant strains. Read related article.”
India’s not the only country with a drug-resistant TB problem. As Pulitzer Center grantee David Rochkind reported, Maldova has among the highest rates of drug-resistant TB in the world. Read more here http://bit.ly/mWKOBvhttp:/
